Mikhail Barabanov. Graduated from the Moscow State University of Culture, then worked for the Moscow city government. Editor-in-Chief of MDB since 2008. Expert on naval history and armaments.
Vasiliy Fofanov. Graduated from Moscow University’s Computational Mathematics Department and holds a PhD in Computer Science. He has been researching modern armor design, development and deployment practices since 1997.
Ivan Konovalov. In 1994 graduated from Journalistic department at the Moscow State University named after Lomonosov. In 1994-2003 worked as a military journalist at Russian television. Author of numerous TV reports and analytical articles on military conflicts in the former USSR republics and far-abroad countries.
Konstantin Makienko. Graduated from the Oriental Department of the Moscow State Institute for International Relations in 1995 and the French-Russian Masters’ School of Political Science and International Relations in 1996. Head of a project on conventional armaments at the Center for Policy Studies in Russia (PIR-Center), 1996–1997. Since September 1997, Deputy Director of CAST. Author of numerous articles on Russia’s military-technical cooperation with other countries, advisor to the head of the Russian Federal Agency on Industry since 2007.
Nikolay Pankov. PhD (Law), General of the Army, State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Defense. In 1980 Mr. Pankov graduated from the KGB Higher School, where he stayed to continue his service. After completing a postgraduate course which earned him the degree of Candidate of Science (PhD), he began working as a teacher and a scientist. In 1994 he was appointed Academic Secretary at the FSB (National Security) Academy. From 1997 to 1998 he served as Chief of the Federal Frontier Guard Organizational Directorate. From 1998 to 2001 Mr. Pankov headed the Russian Security Council Secretariat. In April 2001 he was appointed Chief of the MoD Organizational Directorate, in July 2001 – became Chief of the General Personnel Directorate, and later, in June 2002 – Deputy Minister of Defense for Personnel. In September 2005 he assumed the position of the State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Defense.
Ruslan Pukhov. Director of the Centre for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST) since 1997. In 1996 he graduated from the School of International Information of MGIMO University under the Russian Foreign Ministry. In 1996–1997 – postgraduate student of the French-Russian Master d’Etudes Internationales Sciences Po – MGIMO. In 1996–1997 – researcher for the Conventional Arms Project of the Center for Policy Studies in Russia (PIR Center). Since 2007 Presidium Member of the Public Council for the Defense Ministry of Russia. Author of numerous of research articles on the conventional arms trade and the defense industries of Russia, France and India.
